Georgi Nikolov Glouchkov (alternate spelling: Gueorgui) (Bulgarian: Georgi Nikolov Glushkov ; born on the 10th of January, 1960, in Tryavna) is a Bulgarian former professional basketball player, and the president of the Bulgarian Basketball Federation. He is a 6 foot 8 inches (204 millimeter) forward He was the first basketball player who was from an Eastern bloc country to participate with the American National Basketball Association (NBA).

As the season drew to an end, Glouchkov began losing weight in a rapid manner. As he walked into the Suns 1986 Summer league squad, he was 25 pounds less than what he had been when he joined the Suns. The Suns have not determined the cause of his weight fluctuations however, after a disappointing performance in the summer league and a poor performance in the summer league, the Suns advised him to go back to Europe.

Glouchkov started playing for Bulgaria’s national team when he was an early teenager. After a successful year playing for his Luskov Yambol junior side, Glouchkov was promoted to the senior squad by his senior coach Simeon Vrchev. They also played with each other as a team in BC Balkan Botevgrad and Akademik Varna. In the latter half of the 1980s He had established an image among Europe’s most elite players. He averaged 22 points with 19 rebound throughout the 1984-85 season , during where his club Akademik Varna won the national championship, he drew the interest from the Phoenix Suns, who selected him in the seventh selection (148th selection in the overall draft) from the 1985 NBA Draft. The Suns were signed to much celebration on the 25th of September 1985, when they released a unique press kit that included the history of Bulgaria as well as the glossary of Bulgarian words.
