He played last for the Kloten Flyers in the Swiss National League A. Between 1992 and 1994, he played in a few National Hockey League games for the Ottawa Senators.

Hamr was only in seven games for P.E.I. during 1994-1995 and earned an assist. Hamr spent most of the season with Fort Wayne Komets in the IHL. In 58 games, Hamr scored three goals and had 16 points.

He returned to HC Sparta Praha for the 1996-97, and had a breakout season offensively, as Hamr had 12 goals and 35 points in 52 games. In 10 post-season games, Hamr had two goals and seven points.

Hamr joined Frolunda HC of the SEL in 1997-98, playing in 46 games, scoring two goals and 14 points. In seven playoff games, Hamr had a goal and three points, as Frolunda lost in the semi-final.

In 1992-93, he spent the majority of his first professional season playing for the New Haven Senators in the AHL.
