He was a Liaoning FC player and won the Golden Boot during the 1999 league season. After that, he joined Shanghai Shenhua. He also moved to Australia to play for A-League side Adelaide United, before returning to China to finish his career with Shenyang Dongjin and Nanjing Yoyo. Qu returned to China following the season, citing that he was homesick for his family. In March 2006, he signed with Nanjing Yoyo from the Chinese Jia League. Qu signed again with Adelaide United after just four months in China, and poor performances.
Qu’s status in Adelaide United’s marquee team was put at risk by an ankle injury that ruled him out of the 2006-2007 season and the Asian Champions League. This was after United had won its 2005-06 A-League minor premiership. United was faced with a front-line strike problem due to clubs not being able to sign Champions League players as guest signings. This was highlighted by the Adelaide Advertiser, 18 December 2006. Qu returned to Shanghai in April 2007 after Adelaide United refused to renew his contract for the 2007-08 A-League Season. However, he stated that he wanted to keep in touch with the club and to apply for permanent residence in Australia.

Qu was born in Shenyang (China) to a football team called Liaoning FC. Qu quickly excelled at the club, and he became one of China’s top strikers. Qu was the top scorer in China’s Chinese league 1999 with 17 goals. Qu was also the top scorer in the Chinese league with 17 goals. Qu was also awarded “Mr Soccer of China” 1999, which is the award for the best player of the year. Qu joined Shanghai Shenhua as a player in 2000. Qu quickly established himself as the A-League’s top striker. Qu finished the season with seven goals and 17 appearances for the club.
