He became the 16th Swede ever to be a GM. His first GM norm was earned at the 2005 European Team Championship. He also won his second at Torneig Internacional Ziutat de Soller and his third at Open de Tarragona (Spain).
He is a member of the Sollentuna SK chess Club, where he participated in the European club cups 2002, 2005 and 2007. He has played in other tournaments in Spain and the Swedish league, in addition to the Swedish league.
