When he began his professional career as a medical doctor in Canberra He was the sports doctor of Canberra City Soccer Club (1977-1978) Canberra City Soccer Club (1977-1978) and the Canberra Cannons basketball club (1979-1996). He was the Deputy Medical Director in Canberra’s Australian teams for the four consecutive Olympic Games (1988 to 2000) and also served as medical director during in the 2004 Athens Olympics. He has been a member of the Australian Olympic Committee’s Medical Commission since 1993. The extent of his Commonwealth Games involvement has included serving as a team physician for the 1998 and 1986 teams as well as the team medical directors for both 2002 and 2006. He is acting as the director for medical at the Australian Commonwealth Games Association. He was also the team doctor for the Australian junior basketball teams and Australian gymnastics team.

Peter Allen Fricker, OAM, (born 12 February 1950) is an Australian doctor of sport and an administrator. He served as a team physician for several Australian Olympic and Commonwealth Games teams as well as the head of the Australian Institute of Sport between 2005 and 2011.

Fricker was a student at St Pius X College in Chatswood. He was interested in becoming doctor by his age of 10. When he was in the year 1974, he earned the Bachelor of Surgery and Medicine degree at University of New South Wales. While completing his medical education and pursuing his interest in sports medicine and aided with his brother John as a coach in his University of Sydney rugby league team. The rheumatologist and his internships during training were conducted in Woden Valley and Royal Canberra Hospitals (merged to form Canberra Hospital) and Repatriation General Hospital between 1974 between 1974 and 1977. The year 1979 was the first time he worked as a private practitioner in the suburb of Belconnen, Australian Capital Territory with a particular attention to sports-related medicine.

Fricker has contributed to sports medicine in Australia and internationally through several roles and was a member of the Australian Sports Drug Medical Advisory Committee and the Anti Doping Research Panel from 2000 to 2005. He was president of the Australasian College of Sports Physicians from 1994 to 1996 He has co-authored several books and written numerous articles related to sports medicine.
