She was able to qualify for the first time in the Grand Slam main draw beating seventh seed Coco Vandeweghe, Hsieh Su-wei, and 19th seeds Yvonne Meusburger. She played alongside Maria Irigoyen, losing to Mariya Koryttseva and Olga Savchuk in straight sets. Ormaechea made her singles debut in 2010 World Group II rubber against Estonia. Her first loss came against the world’s No. 61 Kaia Kanepi, then the second lost to Maret Ani. Ormaechea was also in the rubber match against Canada losing each of her singles matches against Aleksandra Wozniak as well as Valerie Tetreault.
