He formerly lived in Liverpool, England, and trained at the Liverpool Academy as a youth. Snape joined Butler’s team after playing eight seasons with Michigan. He worked as an assistant coach to the Wolverines for six seasons before being elevated to the position of Assistant Head Coach in 2009. He was instrumental in leading Michigan towards 4 NCAA Tournament appearances, including an appearance in the 2003 Elite Eight and this year’s Final Four appearance. Michigan concluded its 2010 campaign with a record school-record 17-5-3 ledger, and also won its first Big Ten Tournament title.

A 2000 graduate from Oakland University, Snape was a four-year letterwinner as well as a two-year captain of the soccer team (1999 and the year 2000) with the Grizzlies. He was three times Mid-Continent Conference first team All- League selection, and three-time All-Region athlete from 1998 to 2000. He was also a league Academic Award Winner in 1999 and 2000. After his senior year He was chosen to participate at the Senior Bowl.
Alongside his coaching experience in Michigan Snape was also a part-time coach for a single season as manager of the Michigan Bucks in the USL Premier Development League. The team was guided to an Elite Eight of the league in 2005. He also worked as an assistant coach with the Michigan Olympic Development Program (2001-07) and as an assistant coach for the youth of Michigan Rush SC (2006-08), Vardar SC U.S. Soccer Development Academy(2003 2009-10), Birmingham Bloomfield SC (2002-06) and Bloomfield Force SC (1999-2002).
In his first season at Butler, Snape guided a young Butler team to a 7–8–3 record. His first collegiate victory as a head coach came against his former team, the Michigan Wolverines men’s soccer, in the opening game of the 2011 Michigan Invitational. Prior to the match, he received an NCAA Tournament ring in a special ceremony honoring Michigan’s Final Four team. In 2012, Snape led the Bulldogs to a 5–8–5 record against a schedule that included seven NCAA Tournament teams, and last season Butler recorded an 11–8–1 mark while competing in the BIG EAST. The Bulldogs’ 2013 season ended with an overtime loss in the semifinals of the BIG EAST Championship.
