Seymour was born in Detroit, Michigan, in 1950. He was raised within Berkley, Michigan, and was a student at Shrine Catholic High School in Royal Oak, Michigan. Seymour’s older sibling, Jim Seymour, also went to Shrine High School and went into the ranks of a star wide receiver in the University of Notre Dame. They both Seymour brothers were admitted to the Shrine High School Hall of Fame in 2009 together with their brother John who played running back for West Point.

Seymour was picked for the Buffalo Bills in the first round (seventh overall selection) in the 1973 NFL Draft. Seymour was selected primarily as offensive lineman in order to block O. J. Simpson however, he was later moved to the tight-end position. When he was a rookie Seymour started the entire 14 games as tight end with the Bills and received 10 passes, resulting in 114 yards. Seymour eventually played in five seasons with the Bills between 1973 and

1977. He played in 69 matches, with 68 in which he was the primary tight end. The most memorable moment he had during his time as an NFL player was against the unbeaten New England Patriots on October 20th in 1974. In the match, Seymour caught three passes for 64 yards and two touchdowns, leading the Bills to a thrilling defeat of the Patriots. In his five seasons with the Bills, Seymour caught 62 passes for 818 yards.

At 6’5″ 250 lbs. He was relegated into an offensive tackle in the year 1972. After the conclusion of the 1972 football season, Seymour was chosen as an offensive tackle who was a consensus choice for the 2002 College Football All- America Team. He was recognized as a first-team player by The Newspaper Enterprise Association, the Football Writers Association of America as well as The American Football Coaches Association, the Sporting News and Time magazine.

Paul Christopher Seymour (born February 6 in 1950) is an ex- American footballer. He played for the college team of the University of Michigan from 1969 until 1972, and was chosen as a consensus first team offensive tackle in the 1972 College Football All-America Team. Later, he played professionally with the National Football League (NFL) as a tight end with The Buffalo Bills from 1973 to 1978. He was able to catch eight18 yards and 62 passes.

Seymour attended his first University of Michigan in 1968 and was a member of Coach Bo Schembechler’s Michigan Wolverines football teams from 1969 until 1972. He was a split-end in 1969, and as a tight-end from the year 1970 until 1971. In the two seasons he was tight end Seymour took 19 interceptions for 257 yards and a touchdown.

In August 1978, the Bills traded Seymour to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for wide receiver Frank Lewis. However, Seymour failed to pass the Steelers’ physical when they discovered that he had undergone surgery on his arches. Seymour was returned to the Bills, but he never played another NFL game.
