Patrick Allen Ramsey (born February 14th 1979) is an ex- American football player. He was selected by the Washington Redskins 32nd overall in the 2002 NFL Draft. He played for the college team at Tulane.
On the 13th of October 2002, the Redskins were host to the team of Ramsey’s home state, which is the New Orleans Saints. Ramsey had four interceptions in the Saints defeated the Redskins 43-27.
The 2003 season, Ramsey’s first full season as a starter was even more difficult. He was one of the most sacked quarterbacks in the NFL that year, which was also Spurrier’s last season as head coach. In 2004, Joe Gibbs returned to coach the team after a prolonged absence; he originally traded for Mark Brunell as the starting quarterback (and then quickly signed him to a long term extension) but replaced him with Ramsey in November. A month later, Gibbs named Ramsey as the starting quarterback for the 2005 season.
In March 2006, Ramsey was traded to the New York Jets for a 6th round pick in the 2006 NFL Draft. After failing to earn the starting quarterback position from incumbent Chad Pennington, he was cut after the 2006 season. He only threw a single pass for the Jets.
Ramsey was married to his wife Virginia on the 13th of April 2002, just prior to his 2002 NFL Draft. The couple have two daughters, Mary as well as Molly. The couple welcomed their third baby in the fall of 2011, Carl.

In the 1999 season, Ramsey the quarterback established twenty Tulane record- setting passes, which included single-season records for the number of attempts, yards and completions. He scored 25 touchdowns on the ball and was second in all time for an Tulane player. The year 2000 was when he was the leader of the third-best passing attack in the country. He was also on his way to the All-Conference USA second-team, leading the conference with the highest passing stats. In his senior season of 2001, he started 11 games and was able to throw for 22 touchdowns. He established a school record of scoring at minimum one touchdown pass during 31 consecutive games. When he graduated, he was among the most successful five passing games in the history of Tulane. The totals of his career at Tulane were only surpassed (in different individual stats but not overall) through Shaun King, Mike McKay, Roch Hontas, and Terrence Jones.
Ramsey was a student at Tulane University and had an excellent collegiate experience as an “scholar athlete”, being selected five times to the Conference USA Commissioner’s honor roll and recognized as the College football Hall of Fame Scholarship-Athlete the Year in 2001.
Ramsey was drafted 32nd overall in the 2002 NFL Draft by the Washington Redskins, to replace Tony Banks as quarterback.
