Joseph Patrick Kennedy (born January 5 1952) is a famous American former basketball coach at a college. Kennedy was the previous basketball coach for the men’s team for Towson University, Iona College, Florida State University, DePaul University, Pace University and the University of Montana. At present, Kennedy is a senior advisor to The Hoop Group and Be The Beast Recruiting.

in 2002 Kennedy got the job of coaching Montana. In his time at Montana, Kennedy served as the president of the NABC (National Association of Basketball Coaches). His two-year record for the Grizzlies was 23-35 when his departure to accept the position of head coach for Towson University in 2004. After a 5-24 mark during his first season, Towson improved to 12-16 in 2005-06 before settling for 15-17 in 2006-07. Towson renewed Kennedy’s contract originally scheduled to expire in 2008 to his 2010-11 campaign. Following a season in 2010-11 that ended with an overall record of 4-23, Kennedy stepped down as the head coach of Towson.

On May 7, 2013 Kennedy accepted the head coaching job at Pace, a Division II school who competes in the Northeast-10 Conference. During his second year at Pace, Kennedy won his 499th game against Stonehill College on January 10,

2015. Pace parted ways with Kennedy on March 2, 2015 after two seasons.

He was named by the team to replace Joey Meyer as head coach at DePaul on the 12th of June 1997. In 1997, the Blue Demons had won 5 games during the Meyer’s final season. The year 2000 was the time that Kennedy was the coach who led his Blue Demons to their first NCAA appearance in the span of eight years. Kennedy was among the youngest coaches ever to lead three teams through in the NCAA tournament. In Chicago, Kennedy compiled the most successful recruit class in the nation and guided his team to both the NIT and NCAA in the second and third seasons. DePaul is the only team to lose five players over a period of two years in the NBA in the years 2000 and 2001.

Pat Kennedy graduated from King’s College, Pennsylvania in 1975 with the degree of B.A. with a major in politics. He played in the team for the initial two years, and then as a coach of the junior varsity squad for the last two years. After 1975, Kennedy joined the team as an assistant coach for Lehigh with Brian Hill. In the following three years, after three months in Lehigh, Kennedy joined Jim Valvano’s team as a coach at Iona from 1978. Valvano quit for NC State in 1980, following which Kennedy was elevated to the head coach. In the span of six years Kennedy took his Gaels through the two NIT as well as 2 NCAA championship appearances. He had a 124-60 mark during his time at Iona. He was named the NABC District Coach of the Year at Iona in 1984, and was the MAAC Coach of the Year in 1985.

Following Iona, Kennedy went to Florida State. Kennedy was able to win both the Metro regular season title as well as the championship tournament (1991) before moving on to the ACC schedule from the season 1991-1992. Kennedy won the ACC coach of the year in 1992. Kennedy helped lead FSU’s Seminoles through the semifinals of five NCAA Tournament berths and two NIT appearances during his 11 seasons at FSU. The Seminoles were able to make it into the Elite Eight of the 1993 NCAA Tournament, which was the second-highest year for the team in FSU history. Florida State went 202-131 under Kennedy and posted an .607 percent of wins. In his first year as a coach within the ACC, Kennedy set a record for wins on the road (6) and for total ACC victories (11) for a rookie coach. Kennedy’s teams included some of the most talented football players of FSU history. His 1992-93 team was among of the very few squads in ACC history with four NBA first-round draft selections (Charlie Ward Bob Sura, Sam Cassell and Doug Edwards). Seven of his 11 FSU teams scored at least 19 wins, and Kennedy reached the 20-win mark five times.
