Palani Digambaran is one of the most popular and richest Sri Lankan Politician who was born on January 10, 1967 in Sri Lanka. S. Udeiappan Palani Alagan Digambaran (Tamil: es. uttaiyppnnni plllnni alll born on the 10th of January, 1967) is a Sri Lankan politician and government minister. He is the head of the National Union of Workers (NUW) and an active member of both the Tamil Progressive Alliance (TPA) and the United National Front for Good Governance (UNFGG).
Digambaran was one of UNF’s candidates for Nuwara Eliya District during the 2015 parliamentary elections. He was elected, and re-enrolled in the Parliament. He was officially sworn in to the position of Minister for Hill Country, New Villages, Infrastructure and Community Development on the 4th of September, 2015.
Digambaran was named Deputy Minister of National Languages and Social Integration on the 21st of August, 2014. He quit his post in the UPFA government on December 10, 2014 in support of the party presidential candidate Maithripala Sirisena at the presidential election. Following the election, the new President Sirisena honored Digambaran by making the minister for Plantation Infrastructure Development.

Digambaran was a candidate in the provincial council election in 2004 in the up-country people’s front’s candidates in the Nuwara Eliya District. He got elected into the Central Provincial Council. He was reelected in the provincial council election in 2009 with the same name, but this time as the United National Front (UNF) candidate.
Digambaran ran in the 2010 parliamentary elections with the UNF candidates in the Nuwara Eliya District and was elected to the Parliament. The NUW disbanded from its UNF alliance on April 22nd, 2010 following a dispute about National List seats. Digambaran continued to be a member and a member of the independent parliament. In August 2013, Digambaran along with two other members were charged with trying to obtain 12 perches land and a vehicle using pressure from their legitimate owner, but the case was dropped when the defendants offered to pay to the person who was accused of the car.
