His parents raised him, Pat and Brigid, on a dairy farm with his brother, and his fellow Limerick player, Niall. The family he was raised in is one who has a strong connection to the sport of the hurling. Ollie is a first cousin of Tipperary players, Eoin Paul Kelly and Eoin Paul Kelly and is also a relative to the former Tipperary director, Babs Keating. At a young age, Ollie showed great skill as an all-round athlete. He played hurling as well as football at a minor stage for Limerick. Alongside Gaelic matches, Ollie was an accomplished union player in the rugby league. When he was a teenager Ollie was more interested in the sport of rugby. He played fullback for Ireland U18s and The Irish Colleges, and Munster U18s and U20s. He was awarded the AIL Division Four medal with UL Bohemians. Ollie studied at the the local primary school Ardscoil Ris and then attended Waterford Regional Technical College where the college awarded him the first Class High Honors Grade (BA) with a major in Finance Services. He has been an advisor to Financial Institutions within the Financial Services industry since 1997. He is the proprietor and the principal director of the companycalled Ollie Moran Financial Services Limited. They is headquartered at Limerick since September of 2008. The couple lives together with their wife Lisa as well as their son David.
Ollie played for the Munster team during 8 different seasons during the period between 1997 to 2007. In that time, he was awarded five Railway Cup medals in 1997 2000 2001, 2005 and 2007. He also played in three additional Railway Cup finals in 1999 2002, 1999 and 2004 where Munster lost. His last appearance was on the field for Munster was in the month of October 2007 when they defeated Connacht during the championship 2-22-1-19.
In October 2000, Ollie was part of the Ireland team that beat Scotland in a shinty/hurling international by 57 to 32. This was the first time Ireland had tasted victory over Scotland in 21 years, having previously endured 5 consecutive defeats.
In 2014 Moran was appointed coach to Tipperary club side Borris-Ileigh. In 2019 he managed the Offaly Senior hurling team.
Ollie was a student at Waterford Regional Technical College (WRTC) which is now known as Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT) between 1994 to 2003. His hurling talents were on display. The year 1994 was his debut year with WRTC He won the All-Ireland freshers Hurling title, as well as playing in the Fitzgibbon Cup team which fell in the extra-time portion of the final UL by 2-11-1-11. The next season, WRTC were back in the Fitzgibbon Cup final but this time they were playing UCD who they defeated by 3-15 to 4-4. Ollie was an extra on this team. Ollie did not play in a Fitzgibbon Cup game until 2003 the year that WIT defeated Cork IT by 0-13 to 0-7. This earned the second time a medal. The second time, he put on a fantastic performance in midfield and was able to score a point very early into the game.

Oliver ‘Ollie’ Morrison (born on the 7th of November, 1975 Castleconnell, County Limerick) is an Irish athlete. He plays hurling for his club in the local area Ahane in addition to being a part of the Limerick senior inter- county team between 1997 and 2009. In his time as an hurler, Ollie has been awarded 3 County Championships with Ahane, two Fitzgibbon Cup championships in conjunction with Waterford IT, a National Hurling League and Waterford Crystal Cup title with Limerick and five Railway Cup titles with Munster and a shinty/hurling world championship with Ireland. Ollie’s individual achievements include the Munster All-Star award in 2004 and the GAA All-Star award in 2007. Ollie was the captain for his team Limerick Senior Hurling Team in 2005. In 2013, he appeared as an analyst in the studio for The Sunday Game.
In the beginning of 1990, Ollie joined the Limerick minor hurling group. Then, he joined the county’s under-21 squad, however, he did not have much success at any the level. Ollie joined the expanded Limerick team at the age of 22 in

In 1997, Limerick went on to take the league title and Ollie was awarded his first inter-county senior trophy after defeating Galway during the championship 1-12 to 1-9. The closest Ollie got to winning a championship was back in the year 2006, when Limerick lost in the final to Kilkenny at the end of the game, losing by 3-11 to the score of 0-14. The was the same season, Limerick won the very first Waterford Crystal Cup title when they defeated Ollie’s former university, WIT in the final by 1-19 to 3-10. Ollie showed a remarkable performance at right half-back on Limerick’s Gaelic Grounds that day and added points to Limerick’s score. Ollie had no results in his time with Limerick during Limerick’s Provincial as well as the All-Ireland Championship. He made it to two Munster finals with them in 2001 as well as 2007. He also made it to the All-Ireland final with them in 2007 , where the team lost against Kilkenny by 2-19-1-15. But, Ollie displayed a great individual performance on the day, and he scored his personal best of 1-3, despite starting as a centre-forward. He was awarded the All-Star Award for his work in the year. Ollie plays his club hurling with Ahane, the club made famous by the legendary Mick Mackey. Moran received his first senior championship medal in 1998 when Ahane beat Patrickswell by 1-11 to 0-9. He wasn’t long waiting for a second county medal as Ahane were in the final the following year, this time against Kilmallock whom they drew with in the first final, 0-12 to 2-6. However, Ahane were crowned champions after the game was replayed at the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick. They won the game by a scoreline of 0-14 to 2-5. Ollie played at centre-back and picked up the man of the match award for a great performance which saw him score 3 points in total. Ahane were back in the county final in 2002, however they lost on this occasion to Adare by 0-14 to 0-12. Ollie picked up his third county medal in 2004 when Ahane beat Garryspillane in the final. Ollie’s brother, Niall, was the hero on this occasion after he scored a 58-yard free deep into injury time to put their team ahead by a single point and win by 1-11 to 0-13. The most recent county final that Ollie featured in was the 2008 final against Adare who once again defeated them, this time by a scoreline of 0-13 to 0-8. Despite having won numerous county titles, Ollie and the Ahane club have never been successful in the Munster Club Championship and hence have never progressed to the All-Ireland Club Championship.
