Oleksandr Petrovich Dovbiy (Russian: Dovbii Aleksandr Petrovich born on 28 September 1953 Kharkiv, Kharkiv Oblast, Ukrainian SSR) is a former football player and a master of sports in the USSR (1980).
In the years 1990-91, Alexander was a coach for FC Metalist Kharkiv. In the 1993/1994 season, Alexander was named head coach of FC Metalist Kharkiv. Then, Alexander held the position as a football coach in FC Himic Zhytomyr. In the 1993/1994 year, Alexander is also head coach in FC Neftyanik from Akhtyrka. Then, he became the head coach of FC Zirka Kirovograd and Vorskla. As the manager of FC Vorskla, Alexander took part in the UEFA Intertoto Cup. In 1999, he relocated to Kharkov where he worked with Mikhail Fomenko in coaching FC Metalist Kharkiv.
In 2003, Alexander Dovbiy held in the FC Sokol Saratov, and then returned to Ukraine where he was a coach of FC Zarya in Lugansk was. He helped the club to stay in the A league. In 2005, Alexander Dovbiy returned to Kharkov, where he was a football manager in FC Kharkov-2 and FC Hazovyk-KhGV Kharkiv that play in the B league. In 2009, he worked in the Moldovan club FC Zaria Bălți, but in June left the coaching position.
From 2009 to 2011 Alexander Dovbiy worked in Vietnam, where he was the head coach and one of the founders of the national football academy PVF.
After his time in the military, Alexander was a part of FC Chornomorets Odesa. Then Alexander was transferred towards FC Metalist Kharkiv in 1979 and stayed for three seasons. Then, in 1981, the team was the champion from the A League and set the way for the top league. Alexander completed his career with FC Frunzenets.
