This is his 8th term as the substantive vice- chancellor for Lagos State University. The appointment was made by Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, the governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode to succeed Professor John Obafunwa, a Nigerian pathologist who left on the 31st of October, 2015. His appointment was applauded by the Lagos State University chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities. The chapter, through its chairman pledges their complete support to a good administration.
Fagbohun He was honored on November 28th, 2019 honoured with the Presidential award by Nigeria and the President Muhammadu Buhari with the National Merit Award on Productivity and the National Productivity order based on merit. The ceremony was held on the NAF Conference Center and Suites, Kado, Abuja.
In 2010 he joined the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, NIALS as senior academic staff. In the institute, he was a professor of Advanced Legal Methods and Research and Advanced Environmental Law and Policy. He served on various editorial boards, such as those of the NIALS Journal of Environmental Law Nigerian Current Law Review and the LASU Journal of Law where He was Editor-in-Chief of the journal. Before his appointment to the position of 8th substantive Vice-Chancellor at the Lagos State University, he was Director of Studies DS and Director of research in the university . Olanrewaju was born in Akesan, Alimosho, a local government area in Lagos State, southwestern Nigeria. Then, he earned an Bachelor of Law, LL.B degree in 1987 at the University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University. After completing the one-year compulsory young people’s service in 1989, the student was accepted into his first class at Nigerian Law School before he was called to the Bar. Then he attended The University of Lagos where he obtained a master’s degree in law. He then went back to Obafemi Awolowo University where he was awarded a doctorate degree in law. While in the doctoral program the doctor received an Postgraduate certificate on International Tax Law from Robert Kennedy College, Switzerland.
Fagbohun started his professional career the month of January 1991, as an assistant professor in the Faculty of Law, Lagos State University which he later rose to the position of associate professor and reader of law, in the year 2004. being promoted to full professor in Environmental Law in the year 2008. He was among the academics who contributed to the creation of the curriculum for education of environmental law in Nigerian universities.
