Odell Manuel is one of the most popular and richest Rugby League Player who was born on January 12, 1978 in New Zealand. Growing within Auckland, Manuel was an Otahuhu Leopards junior and in 1997, he was picked for one of the Junior Kiwis.
November 2012 following a break from knee injury Manuel returned to competition at Melbourne’s ProRaw powerlifting event , posting the record- breaking 932.5 kg raw total , made by a 350 kilogram (squat) (215kg) (bench) 367.5 kilograms (deadlift) @ 129 kilograms bodyweight. The feat made him the first person of Australian history to exceed the 900 kilograms raw limit within his own weight category.
In January 2009, Manuel began his first competition in powerlifting. In March, he took home his first Queensland crown in the Queensland Open in Brisbane, lifting 892.5 kg. Then in July 2009 he claimed the Australian national title, lifting 916kg to break record. Australian record by more than 20kg and take home all-around title.

Manuel was a player in his club the Warriors in two consecutive seasons and was awarded his Rookie of the Award in 1999. In 2000, he was a member of his country New Zealand Maori in the World Cup. Then he spent two seasons in Canberra which were not as productive. In the middle of the first season, he got injured by a collision with Lesley Vainikolo in training and was forced to spend the majority of the second season as a reserve player.
However, Manuel was positive for methylhexanamine in the Australian Powerlifting National Championships and was banned from all powerlifting events he participated in the 2009 National Championships. He was barred for three months due to the use of banned substances instead of the normal two- year suspension because of authorities from the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority (ASADA) finding that he took the drug in conjunction with a supplement and not to enhance his performance .
In June 2013 Manuel made history again at the GPC Australia National Powerlifting titles. He squatted 390 kg, bench pressed 230 kg and deadlifted 400 kg at 137 kg body weight raw. This added up to a 1020 kg total, making him the first Australian to total over 1000 kg raw, across any powerlifting federation. In October 2018 Manual took part in Big Dogs 3 event where he took 2nd place with 1115 kg Total.
