Noel Synnott is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Player who was born on December 14, 1951 in Dublin, Ireland. Noel Synnott (born 14 December 1951) is a well-known Irish former player in the Irish national team and manager.
But two years later, he returned to Waterford United where he scored an own goal in the FAI Cup Final in 1986 against Rovers. Since Rovers were winners of the League in the previous season, this final game could have qualified as the Blues for the cup UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup in which Noel made his mark in the final against FC Girondins de Bordeaux in September of 1986. In the end, he was top goalscorer with Waterford Utd. the following year, in European competition!
After his playing career ended he served as manager of Kilkenny City F.C. for the 1991–92 season and Shamrock Rovers for a brief period in 2004.
Doctors said he’d never play again , so the team held a testimonial for the player on the field at Glenmalure Park on 21 September 1983.

He joined the League of Ireland in 1973 playing for Sligo Rovers. He was signed by Shamrock Rovers the following year initially with Mick Meagan, then Sean Thomas and Johnny Giles. He played for nine seasons at Milltown and made 4 appearances for the club in European competitions and an League of Ireland XI cap as well as three games in the league against Liverpool FC and also against Southampton and for Waterford against Arsenal He also participated in the League of Ireland against Argentina in April 1978. He played in the Boca Juniors stadium in Buenos Aires shortly prior to when Argentina took the World Cup in June the same year. It was a disaster on the 27th March 1983, when he became one of the victims of a rough tackle by Mick Fairclough of Dundalk which caused the breaking of his leg.
He was an defender who played at Shamrock Rovers and played three times for the Republic of Ireland national football team in 1978.
In August 1988 Synnott once again appeared in The Hoops in a Leinster Senior Cup (association football) tie.
