Nitzia Scott (born October 10 October, 1990) is better known under the stage name Nitty Scott (formerly known as Nitty Scott or M.C.) is an American rapper from Brooklyn, New York. Her breakthrough came in the year 2010 after the video for her freestyle of “Monster” went viral. She’s performed at the BET Hip Hop Awards, and at the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival, as well as other events. Scott released her first street-oriented album The Cassette Chronicles in 2011 and followed it up with her critically well-received album The Boombox Diaries, Vol. 1 in 2012 . Then she released Her debut record Art Of Chill in 2014. The album was followed by her second album Creature! in 2017.
Scott was born in Michigan and grew up in Orlando, Florida. She has a mother who was Puerto Rican and her father is an African American from New Orleans. Scott began to rap at 14 when she was in the art school, with a major on creative writing. She discovered writing as a means of expression for herself and began creating poetry before deciding to becoming an artist. At 17 years of age she relocated into Brooklyn, New York to pursue the career of rapper. The school she attended was Brooklyn’s Secondary School for Journalism at John Jay High School in Park Slope, Brooklyn. While living in New York, Scott created the Boombox Family hip-hop movement to “preserve and progress hip-hop culture”. In response to some internal adjustments, Nitty dissolved the Boombox Family label in 2014 and launched new ventures in business that are independent. When she spoke to MSN she said that if she had not pursued music as a profession then she would’ve gone to the college of her choice to pursue a degree in Journalism as well as Broadcast Communications.
On June 16th 13th, 2013 Scott released her music video “Flower Child” featuring Kendrick Lamar on MTV Jams. Filming for the video was funded by fans and supporters of Scott’s Kickstarter campaign. The 23rd of May, 2014 Scott dropped her first album, The Art of Chill.
