Nikos Nioplias is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Player who was born on January 17, 1965 in Galatini, Greece. Nikos Nioplias (Greek: Nikos Nioplias born 17 January , 1965) was a Greek football manager who was also a former professional footballer.
After obtaining his coaching certificate In January 2005, he was appointed the head coach for the Greece national football team for under-19s. He took his team in the U19 European Championship which took place in Northern Ireland, but failed to advance beyond the group stage even though they won over the host team. The reason was due to two straight defeats by 3-0 in the final two matches of the team which Nioplias blamed on the lack of performance for his team members.
Nioplias was appointed as the Panathinaikos head coach, alongside Krzysztof Warzycha on 8 December 2009, immediately after the former manager, Henk ten Cate, was released. Nioplias stated: “It is a great honour for me to be the manager of Panathinaikos. Starting from today, we are getting to work. My aim is to achieve as a coach what I have achieved as a player: to win titles”. He managed to do the double in 2010, winning both the Greek Superleague and the Greek Cup.
He left Panathinaikos on 15 November 2010 by mutual consent due to a disappointing run of results domestically and abroad.
After 1996, the player was recalled to OFI and played for six seasons up to 2002, after which he joined Chalkidona FC. He was a part of the newly promoted team until the summer of 2004, which was the time he stopped his career with 509 Greek top-flight appearances.

His career started in OFI Crete in 1983, winning the Greek Cup in 1987, and he was there for 10 years before moving to Panathinaikos. In his debut season, he took home the cup once more and, in 1994-95, they won two domestic titles. The following season, the Athens team won the trophy and Nioplias was part of the team that reached the UEFA Champions League semi-finals in 1995.
He was part of Greece under-18 in the 1984 UEFA European Under-18 championship. In 1988, while a member of Greece under-21, he was able to help his team make it to the semi-finals of 1988’s UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship. He was elevated to the senior squad the same year, and became an integral part of the team that qualified for at the 1994 FIFA World Cup. He played in the three matches Greece participated in during the World Cup, losing every one of them.
Nioplias was named coach of the Greece national under-21 football team in September 2007 after his success with Greece under-19 in Austria.
