Nicolas Joel is one of the most popular and richest French director who was born on February 6, 1953 in Paris, Île-de-France, France. Nicolas Joel, or Joel, (born 6 February 1953) is Joel is a French opera director and the administrator for opera houses. Joel was the general manager at the Theatre du Capitole de Toulouse between 1990 and 2009, and also of the Paris Opera from 2009 to 2014. He conducted operas around the world.

In France, he staged the Puccini’s Turandot along with Massenet’s Thais in Nancy and Ponchielli’s La Gioconda and Verdi’s Les Vepres siciliennes at the Opera national de Montpellier, Debussy’s La Damoiselle elue and Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas with Jessye Norman at the Paris Opera, Gounod’s Faust and the world premiere of Marcel Landowski’s Montsegur in Toulouse as well as Andrea Chenier at the Opera du Rhin as well as at the Opera de Lyon. In the Paris Opera, he staged an entirely new production that included Un Bal masque in 1992. He was Wagner’s director for Parsifal in Nice in 1994.

Joel was born in Paris in the city where he attended school. He joined the Opera in 1973. got a job at the Opera du Rhin in Strasbourg as an assistant director.
