Raskulinecz hails from Knoxville’s Bearden neighborhood. His grandfather purchased him an eight-track recorder for US$2,700 that he used to produce and record bands in Knoxville. Hypertribe, a local thrash/funk group, was his first band. Their three albums were recorded at Underground Recording Studio, Seymour (Tennessee), with Matt Lincoln sharing the engineering and producing duties. After being suggested by Brian Bell of Weezer, Raskulinecz soon moved to Los Angeles in 1995 with his band, Movement. He took up a position at Sound City Studios as an assistant. He became an engineer and was able to produce.

After leaving Sound City in 2001, Raskulinecz was working as an engineer for his own rehearsal studio. He thought about returning to Knoxville with his wife Amber. Dave Grohl, who he had met while working on the Foo Fighters song “A320” for Godzilla: The Album in 2001, invited Raskulinecz into his home studio in Virginia to assist with the Foo Fighters’ next record. Raskulinecz was due to make his first production debut with Knoxvillians Superdrag. Instead, he accepted Grohl’s proposal. The result was One by One which was released in 2002. After the experience was a success, Raskulinecz was invited back to produce In Your Honor (2005). Raskulinecz also mixed the audio for Foo Fighters DVDs Everywhere but Home and Foo Fighters Live At Wembley Stadium and Skin and Bones. The latter was accompanied by the Hyde Park live DVD, which was also mixed by Raskulinecz.

Raskulinecz produced Black Gives Way to Blue, the fourth studio album by grunge rock quartet Alice in Chains. Released on September 29, 2009, this was the band’s first studio album in 14 years, since their 1995 self-titled Alice in Chains, and its first release with new singer William DuVall following the death of Layne Staley. He is also credited as the producer on The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here (2013) and Rainier Fog (2018).
