Janisch’s debut solo album Purpose Built was released in January 2010. It features Walter Smith III, Patrick Cornelius and Johnathan Blake. Also, Aaron Goldberg (with Phil Robson), Phil Robson, Mike Moreno and Jim Hart. Whirlwind Recordings was also inspired by his debut album. Janisch and his Cuban-born co-leader Aruan Ortiz released Banned in London in January 2013. Rudy Royston, Raynald Kolom, and Greg Osby also featured on the album. Janisch, Jeff Williams, and Dan Tepfer released the collaborative album First Meeting: London Volume 1 in June 2014.

Janisch was nominated for a Parliamentary Jazz Award and MOBO Award for the Best Jazz Act in 2016.

Janisch started the label to release his first solo album Purpose Built in

2010. He has since produced over forty records for other artists. The label publishes albums by musicians primarily based in the UK, USA and Mainland Europe. Janisch organized the first Whirlwind festival at Kings Place in London, October 2013. After sustaining an injury during his third season, he returned to music and was transferred to University of Wisconsin La Crosse to study double bass. He was awarded a Berklee College of Music scholarship in Boston in 2000. Janisch received his degree and moved to New York City, England shortly after. Janisch and Patrick Cornelius, co-leaders and alto saxophonists, released Traveling Song in November 2008. This was the debut album of the TransAtlantic Collective, a contemporary jazz group that performed concerts throughout the US, UK, and Europe between 2005 and 2009. The TAC featured many prominent musicians from Europe and the US during their tours. These included pianists Kristjan Randalu and John Escreet as well as trumpeters Quentin Collins and Jay Phelps, Ambrose Akinmusire and Avishai Cohen and drummers Colin Stranahan, Paul Wiltgen.

On October 2, 2015, Janisch released his second solo album, a double-disc titled Paradigm Shift featuring Leonardo Genovese (piano, keyboards), Paul Booth (tenor sax), Jason Palmer (trumpet), Alex Bonney (electronics) and Colin Stranahan (drums). The album features a live recording with post production electronics and led to the formation of a sextet band of the same name.
