His debut self titled album was released in 2003 and included the single “Your Pops Don’t Like Me (I Really Don’t Like This Dude)”.

He married actress Mariah carey in 2008. In 2011, the couple welcomed twins Moroccan, and Monroe. Carey and Carey split in 2014. His second son Golden Cannon, was born to his ex-girlfriend Brittany Bell.
