Nancy Morris is one of the most popular and richest Rabbi who was born on November 2, 1961 in Montreal, Canada. Rabbi Morris’ paternal grandfather, who was born in London’s East End during the early 1900s, emigrated to Canada in the late 1800s. Rabbi Morris was partly inspired by this family connection to accept the position at SWESRS because the synagogue is close to the East End. Rabbi Morris found out that her family history also included Second Lieutenant Harry Jassby. He was a World War I RAF pilot, who was killed at an airfield near Oaks Lane. Second Lieutenant Jassby, despite being Jewish was buried at the St.Peters Christian Cemetery. This was the closest cemetery to the spot where he was killed. The grave is looked after by SWESRS members, and Rabbi Morris holds an annual Remembrance Service at its graveside.

She returned to Canada in her final year of rabbinic study, where she was Rabbi at Har Tikvah in Brampton, Ontario, and Temple Shalom in Kitchener, Ontario/Waterloo Ontario, from 2001 to 2003.

She became the first female Rabbi in Scotland when she was appointed to the post of Rabbi of Glasgow Reform Synagogue in October 2003. During her tenure, Rabbi Morris was also a Guest Lecturer at the University of Glasgow where she lectured on Judaism.

As leader of the second largest stream of Judaism in Scotland, Rabbi Morris participated in interfaith meetings as well as speaking at various events, presenting a modern, liberal, Jewish perspective on a variety of subjects. On this basis, Rabbi Morris presented the Time For Reflection at the Scottish Parliament on 25 June 2008.

She decided to change her career and fled Canada in 1997 to study rabbinics at Leo Baeck College, London. She graduated in 2002.
