Nachum Segal is one of the most popular and richest American radio host who was born on February 15, 1963 in Newark, New Jersey, United States. Segal graduated from Mesivta Ohr Torah, Riverdale, and Yeshiva University’s Yeshiva College. He began his radio career in 1981 at WYUR (Yeshiva University Radio), a campus radio station. He learned the technical skills and knowledge necessary to host a radio program at the university. Segal, who was in his senior year at Yeshiva when he met Norman Laster (Neshoma Show), through Mr. Larry Wachsman, Director of Student Activities. He offered Segal the chance to host the Hebrew and Jewish Program at Upsala College’s WFMU. Larry Gordon was the departing host.

Segal launched the Nachum Segal Network in 2013 to expand the reach of the show. His network not only carried JM in the AM, but also had an archive of the shows that could be accessed on demand. It also airs other Jewish and Israel-themed shows.

On September 20, 2016 Segal announced that his last show on WFMU was on December 1, and that afterward the show was to be available exclusively via the Nachum Segal Network. Segal said that the majority of those listening to the show did not listen via terrestrial radio anymore, and those who did could access the show via the app, website, or a telephone listen line.

In 1995, Upsala College was closed. The college had sold the license to station management the year before and the station continued its independent operation, moving from East Orange, New Jersey to Jersey City, New Jersey in 1998. Segal’s program was preserved during the transitional period. It remained in the 6-9 a.m. block Monday through Friday.
