He retired from professional cricket in 2001 and has held a variety of administrative roles in the cricketing industry, including stints as a coach for Pakistan and Kenya in 1993 and 2001. He was born in Lahore (Punjab).
After retiring from professional cricket, Mudassar was appointed as the national coach of Pakistan. He also coached several other teams, including Kenya’s 2005 national team. For his match-winning bowling against England, Mudassar was awarded the Lord’s title of ‘Golden Arm’ in 1982.
Mudassar once held the record for the highest partnership in Test Cricket, 451-runs, third-wicket against India, Pakistan in 1982-83. He also holds the record of the fastest Test match century, as well as the longest time in minutes (557). His captain also had him as a bowler, and he earned the reputation for being a shock bowler. He was adept at breaking long partnerships and batsmen playing long innings.

Mudassar made his Test cricket debut for Pakistan against Australia on 24/12 1976. He was the son of Nazar Mohammad, Test cricketer. Mudassar now lives in Bolton, England. He was a member of many top league teams in Pakistan and played his final Test match against New Zealand at Auckland 28 February 1989. However, he continued to play first-class cricket until 1993. In the fifth Test against India, he became the second Pakistani to open the innings after his father.
Mudassar was a spokesperson for the Pakistan players’ organization in the mid- 1980s. He claims that he criticised the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), and was then omitted from Pakistani side.
