Mr L did not do well at school – except for music and drawing. After years, he graduated as a media designer, specialising himself in video editing. He made Lordi’s first music video “Inferno”, a seven-minute combination of horror fantasy and heavy metal music video, in 1995. The video featured Mr Lordi’s friends in heavy makeup and masks and horror decorations made by Mr Lordi – and Mr Lordi himself singing without any makeup. Shortly thereafter he met his future band members on a Kiss Army trip to Sweden and Lordi turned into a real band with four members – Mr Lordi, G-Stealer, Enary and Amen.
In 1997, Lordi produced the first Lordi album, Bend Over and Prayer the Lordi. The album was not released because he could not find a publisher. He has illustrated a comic book with Lordi since then. The first single, “Would You Love a Monsterman?” was released in 2002. BMG Finland finally released Get Heavy and Mr Lordi was responsible for all album artwork, merchandise design, and masks and outfits. He writes the songs with the rest of his band.

Before Lordi, Mr L was a member of many different rock bands from Rovaniemi. He is best remembered as the lead singer for his old band Wanda Whips Wall Street. In 1992, at the age of 18, he founded Lordi as a solo project. In 1993, he produced his first demo, Napalm Market. Lordi’s preferred sound was described by Mr L as “a song made in 1983 by Kiss, covered by Pantera 1992 and remixed in 1993 by Puff Daddy”. Lordi was formed four years later by Mr Lordi, who met Lordi’s original lineup during a Finnish Kiss cruise. The cruise was organized by Kiss Army Finland president.
In 2011 Mr Lordi created his own choir from Rovaniemi for Finnish version of Clash of the Choirs miniseries. He named his choir as “Rock’n’Rollo” and invited the choir to perform in Lordi’s anniversary concert in 2012.
