Morten Nordstrand Biography

Morten Nordstrand is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Player who was born on June 8, 1983 in Hundested, Denmark. Morten Nordstrand Nielson (Danish pronunciation: “noastRan?” ; born 8th June 1983) was a former professional Danish footballer who played as a striker. He is currently F.C.’s assistant coach. Copenhagen U17. He has been a part of the Danish national football team eight times.

It was originally speculated that Nordstrand would replace Mads Junker, the top-scoring striker at Superliga club FC Nordsjaelland. Nordstrand was with Lyngby at the end of the season and topped Lyngby’s 1st Division goalscorer lists with 29 goals. Lyngby had barely missed promotion in 2005-06. Nordstrand made the decision to play top-flight soccer and was pursued by several Superliga clubs as well as Dutch FC Groningen. He signed a contract at FC Nordsjaelland after his Lyngby contract expired in July 2006.

On 6 July 2007, Nordstrand moved to F.C. Copenhagen, signing a five-year-long contract with the Danish champions. The transfer fee was reported to be around 15 million Danish kroner (€2 million ), at that time the largest transfer fee ever paid for a player between two Danish clubs.

In August 2009 Nordstrand signed for Dutch Eredivisie club FC Groningen on loan, as a replacement for fan favourite and fellow Scandinavian Marcus Berg. In his debut game with his new club, he provided the only goal in a derby against SC Heerenveen, ended in a 1–0 win for FC Groningen, the first in the Eredivisie season for the Green-Whites. On 23 March 2010, Groningen announced they would not consider the purchase option and that Nordstrand would return to F.C. Copenhagen.

He was the top goal scorer in the Superliga’s top-flight Danish Superliga with 10 goals in 18 games in his first season. Nordstrand was selected for the league’s national team. This team played unofficially in El Salvador, Honduras, and the United States in January 2007. He was present in all three matches and scored one goal during the tour. He was invited to play in the friendly match against Australia that took place in Copenhagen on the day of his return from the tour. In the 86th minute, he made his debut as a substitute for the national team. He played in all three matches this season, scoring either 18 or 19 goals. According to some media, he scored 18 goals while others claim he scored 19. A goal against FCM was scored either by Nordstrand or Lundberg. It is still unclear which.

Nordstrand’s college coach contacted Lyngby BC about Nordstrand’s talent and he was soon promoted to senior player at Lyngby. Nordstrand was one of the amateur players in Lyngby BK’s first team squad, and he moved up from the youth club team when the club went bankrupt. At 17 years old, he made his senior debut with the club in December 2001. Lyngby placed last in the 2001-02 Superliga Season. He was forced to be relegated to the Denmark Series, the fourth level of Danish football.

Nordstrand remained at the club and was a goal scorer in the lower leagues. Lyngby was promoted to the Danish 2nd Division after the 2003-04 season. Nordstrand and Christian Holst formed a formidable striker partnership, scoring 43 goals together in the 2004-05 season. Nordstrand scored 22 goals to be the club’s top scorer. Lyngby was third in the 2nd Division and Lyngby was promoted to the Danish 1st Division.

At F.C. Copenhagen Nordstrand quickly became an important player. In the 2007–08 season he scored 9 goals and alongside Marcus Allbäck was the team’s main attacking force. In the beginning of 2008–09 season he usually started the matches, but he often found himself on the bench with Ailton Almeida and Cesar Santin playing in attack. Despite that, he scored 20 goals in competitive matches for F.C. Copenhagen in the 2008–09 season and was the team’s top scorer.
