Maureen “Mo” Marley MBE, nee Mallon, was born 31 January 1967. She is an English football manager. She has been the manager of England’s women’s under-21 football team since 2018. Marley, a former player, was a centre back. She captained Everton and the England women’s football team. Marley played 41 times for England between 1995-2001.

Marley quit playing football and became Everton Ladies’ manager in 2002. She had previously served as the Girls and Womens Football Development Officer for Merseyside. While still playing for Everton, she had accepted her position as England’s Under-19s head coach in November 2001. She led Everton to their FA Women’s Premier League Cup victory in 2008, and FA Women’s Cup victory in 2010.

In July 2009, she coached the England Under-19s side to victory in the Uefa Women’s Under-19 Championship. Marley stood down as Everton manager in October 2012, to focus on her job at the Football Association (FA).

In September 2017, she was named as the interim manager of the England women’s national football team. In October 2018 she was appointed the permanent manager of the newly resurrected England under-21 women’s team.

Marley, then 28, made her senior debut for England against Italy in November 1995. After the 2001 European Championships, she was elected captain of the team. She retired with 41 caps from international football. Marley scored one goal in England’s friendly win over Scotland in March 1997 at Bramall Lane.

In the 1987-88 season, Marley joined Everton Ladies (then called Leasowe Pacific). She was a key player in the club’s 1989 Women’s FA Cup win and later became the team’s captain.

Marley became only the second woman in England, after Hope Powell, to be awarded the UEFA Pro Licence. She completed the course in 2007–08, alongside Roy Keane.
