Katsuhisa was the fifth overall pick by the Osaka Evessa during the 2009 bj league draft. After his first season, he was released from the Evessa as a player. He then signed as a coach for the Evessa reserve team. He was injured in Evessa’s first season and was released as a player. However, he signed again as a player in January 2011.
Katsuhisa was appointed coach of the Shimane Susanoo Magic in June 2015. Taketo Aoki, his assistant, replaced him at the B-Corsairs.
Katsuhisa’s older brother Geoffrey Katsuhisa is an interpreter. He has served as the interpreter for several Japanese professional basketball leagues. Geoffrey Katsuhisa was appointed the Iwate Big Bulls’ head coach in June 2015.

He left the Evessa in the off-season 2011 to become the assistant coach of the expansion team Yokohama B-Corsairs, under former NBA player Reggie Geary. Katsuhisa served as Geary’s interpreter and assistant for two seasons, which included the championship 2012-13 season. Geary was fired by the B-Corsairs after the 2012-13 season and Katsuhisa took over as head coach. Katsuhisa’s leadership saw the team lose most of its champion stars. The B-Corsairs’ first season under Katsuhisa was a disappointing 24-28 season. They missed the playoffs for only the second time in club history.
Katsuhisa was still the head coach in 2014-15. However, the club was still struggling with Wayne Marshall’s injury that left him out of nearly a quarter. The club finished the season 10th in the Eastern Conference, with an 18-34 win/loss record.
