After a dispute with the German Swimming Association, he became a naturalized Dutch citizen. He trains at PSV Eindhoven (Eindhoven), Netherlands with Torsten Petsch as his coach.
Zastrow was fifth among 100 Dutch swimmers who qualified to compete in the 2004 Summer Olympics at Athens, Greece. He was also a member the Dutch 4x100m freestyle relay team that won silver with a time of 3:14.36.
Zastrow was a Dutch citizen when he participated in the 2003 FINA World Championships, Barcelona, Spain. He was unable, however, to participate in the majority of the events he had qualified for due to a back injury.
