Cornish was a Raiders’ NYC player from 2011 to 2013. On 7 June 2012, Cornish extended his contract with Raiders. It went from the end 2013 to the end 2015. He was named the 2012 NYC Team of the year at halfback on 21 August 2012. He played against the Junior Kiwis on 13 October 2012. A late injury to Lachlan Maranta resulted in Ben Hampton assuming Maranta’s position at fullback, and Cornish taking Hampton’s spot as a bench player. He attended the Blues Origin Pathways camp in November and December 2012 for potential future New South Wales State of Origin players. He played at halfback for the New South Wales Under-20s team against Queensland on 20 April 2013. He was awarded the Darren Lockyer Medal, Man of the Match, in the Blues’ 36-12 win over Penrith Stadium. He was named to the interchange bench for the 2013 NYC Team of the year, making the team for the 2nd consecutive year. He played again for the Junior Kangaroos in the match against the Junior Kiwis on 13 October 2013. This time, he was co-captain of the team with Michael Lichaa.
Cornish was promoted to the Raiders’ New South Wales Cup Team, Mount Pritchard Mounties, in 2014. He played for the Raiders at the NRL Auckland Nines on 15 and 16. February. He made his NRL debut in Round 11 against the North Queensland Cowboys. He played off the interchange bench during the Raiders’ 42-12 victory at Canberra Stadium. He played at halfback for the New South Wales Residents in their 24-16 loss to Queensland at Suncorp Stadium on 9 July. He played his first round of NRL halfback against the Wests Tigers at Canberra Stadium. The Raiders won 27-12. After playing in eight matches for the Raiders, he completed his first year in the NRL.
In February Cornish was selected to play in the 2017 NRL Auckland Nines. The Roosters won the final.
