Mirko Grabovac, a former professional football player from Croatia and coach, was born 19 September 1971. In order to play for the Singaporean national football team, Grabovac had switched his nationality from Croatian to Singaporean in 2001. He then renounced it in 2008.
Grabovac began coaching in Croatia in 2009 and took over NK Mosor. In the same year, he joined NK Imotski and coached them for three years. He returned to Mosor, where he coached them for another 4 years.
In early 2018, Grabovac was announced as the new head coach of his former club Warriors FC, this would mark his return to his former adopted nation in a footballing capacity since he renounced his Singaporean citizenship. The appointment was met with disapproval by Singaporean footballing fans and communities because of his citizenship affair stated above. He received his permit to coach Warriors from the authorities on March 2018. His time with Warriors were a disappointing one, finishing in fifth position out of nine in the 2019 Singapore Premier League. His contract were not renewed beyond that season.
Two months later, Grabovac was forced to resign as Swandi Ahmed took over the squad. The Croatian then decided to leave Singapore on October 5, 2008 to be with his family in Croatia and renounce his citizenship.

Grabovac was the highest scorer in Singapore’s S.League during 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2002 when he played for the Singapore Armed Forces FC FC (SAFFC) and again in 2005 while playing for Tampine Rovers. In 2000, he was the S.League Player of the Year.
He scored his 240th S.League goal in the semi-final against Bangkok University in 2007 to surpass Egmar Goncalves, becoming the S.League’s all-time top goalscorer.
A year later, Grabovac was hired by Sengkang Punggol to play as a striker as well as double up as the assistant coach under head coach Saswadimata Dasuki. However, he was unable to pass the mandatory beep test twice, and served as caretaker coach for the Dolphins for a short period, starting with a 1–0 win over Gombak United which was Sengkang’s second victory of the season.
