Mike Akiu is one of the most popular and richest American Football Player who was born on February 12, 1962 in Kailua, United States. Karl Michael Akiu, born February 12, 1962, is an ex-American football wide receiver who spent two seasons with Houston Oilers in the National Football League. The Houston Oilers drafted him in the seventh round, 1985 NFL Draft. After enrolling at Washington State University, he transferred to the University of Hawaii Manoa. Akiu was a graduate of Kalaheo High school in Kailua County, Honolulu, Hawaii. He was also a member the San Francisco 49ers as well as the Buffalo Bills.

Mike Akiu, Jr., Akiu’s younger brother, also played for Hawaii Rainbow Warriors. Akiu, Sr. assisted in the capture of a burglar who broke into a hotel room that he shared with Willie Drewrey on September 1, 1985.

Akiu signed with the Buffalo Bills on July 1, 1988. He was released by the Bills on August 1, 1988.

Akiu signed with the San Francisco 49ers on February 9, 1988. He was released by the 49ers on May 12, 1988.

From 1982 to 1984, Akiu moved to Hawaii to play college football with the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors.
