Mickael Korvin, a Franco- American author/translator who was born in 1957, is of Hungarian descent. His French spelling reform, “nouvofrancet”, is his most well-known invention. It simplifies learning, teaching and sharing French. He lives in Paris.

Korvin published L’homme qui se Croyait plus beau que’il n’etait, his ninth novel at the beginning of 2016. At that time, he also presented his nouvofrancet, a simplified version of traditional French spelling, under the alternative title lom qi su croyet plo qil netet, which is identical to the paper format but uses the simplified spelling he had suggested.

Korvin published a novel called Journal d’une cause perdue in early 2012. This was part of his campaign to eliminate accents, capital letters, and punctuation from written languages, particularly French. The French campaign was made famous by a promotional video Korvin shot with Franco-Algerian rapper Morsay. In it, the rapper threatened to sexually assault Erik Orsenna, grammarian and member at the Academie Francaise Erik Orsenna. Korvin called Orsenna, a “dictator grammar”, who was “killing” the French language during the video. The video was shot in Les Puces in Paris, a flea-market located in Saint-Ouen. L’Express published an article describing Korvin’s intervention as “fleas contre L’Academie francaise” (Les puces contra L’Academie francaise). The same article compared Korvin’s position in Journal d’une cause perdue with Queneau Apollinaire Perec, Tristan Tzara, Perec, Perec, and Perec. Le Nouvel Observateur published an article that compared Korvin’s punctuation stance with those of Mathias Enard, Georges Perec and Philippe Sollers. Orsenna’s publicist provided a short statement that was appropriate to the author of An Elegy for Punctuation.
