Michelle Rhonda Thomson, born 11 March 1965, is a former politician and entrepreneur from Scotland. Momentous Change Ltd was founded by her and Professor Roger Mullin to assist organisations in managing change. Momentous Change’s first report, “Brexit and Scottish Business”, was published in 2018.

Police Scotland announced in September 2015 that it was conducting an investigation into “alleged irregularities” in relation to property transactions. Her solicitor had been struck off. Thomson made a statement to the SNP on Thomson’s behalf, saying that she was withdrawing from the party whip while the investigation was continuing. Thomson resigned the whip, which also meant she lost her SNP membership and her position as spokesperson for the SNP’s Business, Innovation and Skills at Westminster. Thomson later claimed that she was forced to resign from the whip.

Prior to this, Thomson was the Member of Parliament for Edinburgh West from May 2015 until May 2017. She served as the SNP Business, Innovation and Skills spokesperson in the House of Commons until her resignation of the party whip in September 2015. She was also a member of the Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) Committee from 2015 to 2017.

In December 2016, in a House of Commons debate focused on UN International Day For The Elimination Of Violence Against Women, Thomson described the impact of having been raped at the age of fourteen years old, highlighting the conditions of silence and shame that prevent rape from being discussed or reported.

Thomson began her career as a professional musician, and later completed a post-graduate diploma in information technology (IT). Thomson worked for Standard Life and Royal Bank of Scotland for more than 23 years, in various senior roles that delivered IT and business transformation. She started her own property business in 2009
