He is best famous for his portrayal in the role of Jerome Johnson in the Channel 4 soap show Brookside from 1998 until 2002. The actor also played the character of Linford Short in BBC’s EastEnders in the year 2016. His debut feature film as filmmaker, Soft Lad, premiered at the East End Film Festival in 2015.

On the 13th of August, 2008, he performed in a short run in the role of Piaf in The Donmar Warehouse opposite Elena Roger. Then, he was invited to The Royal Court Theatre, London as “Deity” in Tarell Alvin McCraney’s “Wig Out!” produced by Dominic Cooke which ran from November 2008 until January 2009.

Since signing his record deal, Leon has teamed up with Take That star Gary Barlow and producer Rod Gammons to co-write his debut album ‘Movin On’. In February 2010 Lopez appeared opposite Leslie Caron, Greta Scacchi and Lambert Wilson in Stephen Sondheim’s musical A Little Night Music at The Chatelet Theatre in Paris, playing the role of Frid. His latest show, John Adams’ Broadway-style show I Was Looking at the Ceiling and Then I Saw the Sky at Theatre Royal Stratford East, London, opened in July 2010 and was a huge critical success, gaining several 4-star reviews in national papers such as The Independent and The Times.

Lopez has performed in throughout the UK in the role of “The Childcatcher” in a production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and was in numerous pantomimes. In the fall of 2007, he appeared in the character as “Collins” in the West End revival of Rent (musical) (musical) Rent (musical) Remixed by William Baker.
