Michel Orcel studied classical literature at the Jesuits of Marseille and graduated from the Institut d’etudes politiques de Paris (Public Service department, class 1974). He then moved to the Sorbonne, where he received a master’s in philosophy under Claude Tresmontant and a DEA under Roger Arnaldez. Finally, he defended a doctoral thesis on Literature and Human Sciences (Italian Studies), and was granted his authorization to direct doctoral studies (University of Tours) in 1996).
