He was Adjunct Professor of Management at the Australian Graduate School of Management from 1994 to 1998 and served as senior Vice President of UNICEF Australia from 1998 to 2002 and as a member of the Board of the Museum of Contemporary Art (1999–2000) and as a Director of the Sydney Symphony (1995–1996).
Easson joined the private sector in 1994, recruited by Sydney Olympic Bid Chief Rod McGeogh for law firm Corrs Chambers Westgarth, and serving on various Boards, including as an independent Director on Macquarie’s Industrial Property fund, a predecessor to the Goodman Group, the industrial property REIT. Specialising as a company director with businesses in infrastructure, construction and investment, along with Sydney businessmen Shane and Adam Geha, Easson formed EG Property, of which he is co-owner and Executive chairman.
Easson began his career as a Research Assistant for the Hon. John Brown MP. The Labor Council of New South Wales (now Unions NSW), was his first job as an Education & Research Officer. He was then promoted to Assistant Secretary (1984) then Secretary (1989-1994). He was 34 years old when he was elected the youngest Secretary. Between 1993 and 1994, he was elected Vice President of Australia Council of Trade Unions and Senior Vice President of Labor Party (NSW Branch). He was the managing director of Radio Station 2KY (1989-1994) while at Labor Council. In 1989, he co-founded Asset Super (since 2012 part CARE Super) as well as Chifley Financial Services. Easson was a member of the NSW Council of Trade Union Trading Authority (TUTA) between 1978 and 1987.
