Reading announced on 15 May 2009 that Duberry’s contract would be terminated. Duberry signed a two year contract with Wycombe Wanderers on 10 July 2009. Duberry joined Oxford United on 1 June 2011, on a two-year deal, to be closer to his family. He scored his first goal for the club, and the 8th of his career, in a 2–1 victory over Port Vale on 29 October 2011. On 21 January 2012, Duberry scored a hat-trick which included two own goals followed by a last-minute equaliser as Oxford drew 2–2 with Hereford United. Duberry scored once with his left foot, once with his right, and once with a header—usually regarded as a ‘perfect’ hat-trick.
Michael Duberry announced that he had signed a week-to-week deal with non- league Hendon on 9 August 2013. After just 4 games, and 16 days with the Greens, Duberry was released. He announced his retirement from football on 2 October 2013.

Duberry was educated at Enfield Grammar School, London. He began his career as a trainee at Chelsea and made his debut in the 1993-94 season. After that, he was briefly on loan to Bournemouth. Duberry played in 115 games for Chelsea, scoring 3 goals. This included one against Manchester United in the Old Trafford game in November 1996. Two of his other Chelsea goals were in the 1995-96 FA Cup campaign against Grimsby Town, and Wimbledon. In 1998, he won the League Cup, UEFA Cup Winners Cup and European Super Cup with Chelsea. However, he was up against stiff competition from Frank Leboeuf and Marcel Desailly for a spot in the team. Duberry suffered an Achilles tendon injury during January 1997, which meant he was unable to play in the 1997 FA Cup Final.
Duberry, who was looking for regular football, requested a transfer to Leeds United in June 1999. This cost PS4.5 million. He failed again to make it into the first team as Dominic Matteo and Lucas Radebe, among others, took Leeds to the Champions League semi finals. He played the entire 90 minutes of their memorable win over AC Milan at Elland Road. However, it would be his last competition appearance that season. He was in court with his Leeds teammates Jonathan Woodgate, Lee Bowyer. He played for Leeds in 2003-04 his first season. Lucas Radebe was becoming more injury-prone, and the crippling debt forced Ferdinand and Woodgate to sell him. Duberry was not able to impress in a defense that included loan signings (such Zoumana Camara or Didier Domi), and youth-team players (such Frazer Richardson or Matthew Kilgallon).
Four days later, Duberry signed for Scottish side St Johnstone. He made his Saints début in a 1–0 Scottish Cup defeat to Dundee United. He scored his first goal for St Johnstone in a 2–2 draw with St Mirren on 17 April 2010. Duberry re-signed a further one-year deal with St Johnstone on 27 May 2010.
