Tapper competed in an event in Portugal and a Czech Republic event. Tapper was also a member of the World Junior Cadets Under-15s. Tapper’s college paid part of the travel costs for her competition. With the goal of representing Australia at the Olympic Games, she began to take the sport seriously. She was first at the 2008 Under 18 Oceania Championship, and the 2008 Under 21 Australian Championships. She was the Australian U21 champion and Oceania U18 champion by 2008 and she won the Michael Szabados Award as the Australian Junior Player. In October 2008, she competed at the Commonwealth Youth Games in Pune (India).
Tapper began playing tennis in 2002, while she was still in primary school. She competed against ablebodied athletes and her first appearance on an Australian team was in a Jordanian competition in 2004. She competed in the National Table Tennis Championships 2004 in the under-14s doubles, mixed doubles as well as the under-16s doubles & mixed doubles. Tapper also earned medals in seven events with three first-place finishes.
In March, she spent time in Europe playing table tennis in Italy and Hungary, winning the Opens in both countries. She won two gold medals at the 2011 Arafura Games, and was selected to represent Australia at the 2012 Summer Paralympics in table tennis. She modelled the 2012 Australian Paralympic team uniform at Sydney’s Overseas Passenger Terminal during the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia Spring/Summer 2012/13.
