Friberg was a junior player in Sweden’s lower divisions with Skovde IK. To continue his development, Friberg moved from Sweden to Timra IK with the Elitserien. On November 19, 2011, he defeated Fredrik Norrena from Linkopings HC to achieve his first Elitserien goal.
Friberg signed a three-year entry-level contract on June 15, 2012 with the Anaheim Ducks.
