The Devils traded Halischuk (and a second-round draft pick) to Nashville Predators on June 19, 2010. Predators’ captain Jason Arnott was also traded. Halischuk scored in overtime the game-winning goal against the Vancouver Canucks on April 30, 2011. This brought the series to 1-1. This was Nashville’s second win in the playoffs.

The New Jersey Devils drafted Halischuk 117th in the NHL Entry Draft 2007. He was originally from the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), where he was a member of the Kitchener Rangers as well as the Toronto St. Michael’s Majors. He was named to Team Canada at the 2008 IIHF World U20 Championship. He scored the game-winning goal during overtime at the Under-20 Championship.
Halischuk made his professional debut with the Lowell Devils in 2008-09. They are an American Hockey League (AHL), affiliate of the New Jersey Devils. On October 29, 2008 at the Prudential Center, he played his first NHL match against the Toronto Maple Leafs. He recorded an assist and returned to Lowell for the remainder.
