Bischoff was a student at New Haven High School, where the four-year letterman was. In his first year the team posted an overall record of 3-2, and the 3.20 earned run-adjusted (ERA) nine saves with 63 strikeouts. In his sophomore season, Bischoff went 9-1 with an 1.20 ERA, and 120 strikeouts. The number of strikeouts he recorded was the school record. He was selected on the team of all conference following the season. Bischoff had a 11-2 record with an 0.70 ERA, and 137 strikeouts in his junior season. He beat the school’s strikeout record which he had established the season prior to. He was on the first-team all-conference player and first team all-area and was named first-team all- state during the season. In his senior season, Bischoff went 12-3 with 133 strikeouts. Following the season, The Fort Wayne News-Sentinel named Bischoff as the top male sportsman of the season. The school holds his record for winnings over the course of his career (35) as well as striking outs (453). Bischoff has also been a player of tennis and basketball in high school. In all four of his seasons on the team that played baseball at school His dad, Dave Bischoff, was his coach.

In his junior season, Bischoff compiled a 4-5 record. He had an 5.54 ERA, three complete games with 80 strikeouts across 14 games.
