Massimo Taibi is one of the most popular and richest Italian footballer who was born on February 18, 1970 in Palermo, Italy. Massimo Taibi (Italian pronunciation: [‘massimo Ta’ibiborn on 18 February 1970) is an ex- Italian footballer, who was a player as a goalkeeper in various clubs, mostly within the Italian leagues of Serie A, B, and C1. The goalkeeper was a part-time player with the English football club Manchester United.
On January 1, 2000 Taibi moved to Reggina as a temporary player until close of the season, and there the player played frequently. When the loan period ended, Manchester United made it evident that – even though Taibi was open to transfer, another loan agreement was not out of the question. They also rejected the offer of Napoli. Then, in July of 2000 Manchester United agreed to let Taibi to return to Reggina for a price that was PS2.5 million. On April 1, 2001 Taibi was able to score a goal by kicking in a corner kick in 87th minute in the game against Udinese to bring the at 1-1-0 draw on home turf. In scoring the goal, Taibi was only the second goalie to score in open game within Serie A history after Michelangelo Rampulla scored in 1992.
in 1999 Manchester United purchased Taibi for PS4.5 million. They needed the replacement of a goalie following Peter Schmeichel had left for Sporting Lisbon after winning the triple and sustaining injuries to their first and second first choice goalkeepers, Mark Bosnich and Raimond van der Gouw. Taibi made his debut against Liverpool and he was able to flap during a kick-off which allowed Sami Hyypia to score. He later performed a series of saves which included a one-on-one stop by Vladimir Smicer. United won 3-1, with Taibi winning an Man of the Award. Taibi played alongside the other two goalkeepers Mark Bosnich and Raimond van der Gouw, to secure the first team spot however, he was ejected due to a lapse of judgment against Southampton in September 1999 , which led to Matthew Le Tissier scoring a goal with which he became famous. This incident resulted in Taibi being dubbed the Blind Venetian’ by one newspaper. Taibi only played in four games and one of them was losing 5-0 at Chelsea United’s first league loss since the loss to Middlesbrough in December 1998.

Taibi began his career with Licata from 1989 to the present. He only played once before making the move to Trentino where he became the first choice goalie, and played 23 games. After a single season, he joined Milan to play in Serie A for the 1990-91 season. In his first club, he wasn’t employed at all. He soon was transferred to Como which he joined for the next season. Following that, he transferred to Piacenza. Taibi was there for five seasons, from the 1996-97 season. He was a regular in the team’s games.
Piacenza believed that his time was done So they offered him to the team that did not play him before, Milan. The next time, Milan played him in the majority of the games in 1997-98 as a replacement for his teammate Sebastiano Rossi. Then, Milan traded the player the team to Venezia at the end of 1998. In his first season at Venezia the team, he was a part of the majority of games.
After the 2000–01 season finished in relegation for Reggina, he was shifted to Atalanta as a replacement of Ivan Pelizzoli. In the summer of 2005, he went on loan to Torino, serving as first-choice goalkeeper; the move became permanent in 2006, with Taibi however becoming the backup goalkeeper behind Christian Abbiati. He made his seasonal debut on 13 January 2007. In the 2007–08 season, he joined Ascoli, as Torino acquired the services of Matteo Sereni. Taibi played 47 matches, before he announced his retirement from football in 2009.
