Christie was born into the Irish Catholic family in the Philadelphia suburb of Paoli, Pennsylvania, the ninth child of 10. Christie was the class president of the University of Delaware Class of 1985 (her husband was the President for the class of 1984). Christie obtained her MBA at Seton Hall University in New Jersey.
The Christies who were both recently graduate from The University of Delaware, were married in the year 1986. After their wedding, they resided in a studio together located in Summit, New Jersey.
