Martin Steffes Mies (born 13 January 1967) is a retired German rower.

Steffes-Mies junior was a member of Steffes-Mies junior joined the Mainzer RV. With a height of 200 centimetres (78 inches) and weighing 95 kilograms (209 lbs) Steffes-Mies had good physical build for an athletic rowing career. In 1988, at the world championships German rowing championships, he was awarded bronze with his coxed four-team. The following year the team was crowned German winner in the same boat with Dirk Balster, Ansgar Wessling, Roland Baar, and Manfred Klein as cox. They teamed with the coxless four which won the national championship and, as an eight they were awarded the national title for the second time in 1989. They were then voted”the German eight (“Deutschland Achter”) to compete at during the 1988 World Rowing Championships in Bled, Yugoslavia, where they took home gold. In 1990, Steffes-Mies was crowned the German championships, this time in the coxed four and eight and eight, including Frank Richter having replaced Wessling in both boats, and Frank Dietrich being the only participant in the 1989 coxless four remaining in the team. The eight team defended its title as the world champion in the 1990 World Rowing Championships in Tasmania, Australia. In 1991, Steffes Mies won the German championships in the eight category for the third time in a row. Jurgen Hecht as well as Wolfgang Klapheck, who had won the national coxless couple title were part of the eight team for in 1991’s World Rowing Championships in Vienna, Austria; for the third time in a row, they won the title of world champion. This was the first time that they represented a united Germany.

In 2005, he did take over his father’s company and immediately amalgamated it with the company of a business partner; the joint company had 350 employees. In October 2010, they sold their company to the construction company Strabag.
