Mark Anant Wagh (born 20 October, 1976) is an ex- English professional cricketer, who was a part of Warwickshire as well as Nottinghamshire. He was a student at King Edward’s School, Birmingham where he played with Anurag Singh In an age group squad, two years higher than that of his (one year ahead of Singh’s).

He was out for the entirety of the 2005 season due to an injury to the knee that was serious, Wagh featured in Warwickshire’s first team in 2006 after excellent performances in the Twenty20 season. He was promoted following injuries to Warwickshire teammate Nick Knight. The end of 2006 saw the completion of his contract even though he had two years left in his Warwickshire contract the county gave him permission to transfer to Nottinghamshire. Wagh was recognized for his consistency in batting with Nottinghamshire’s Player Of The Season award in 2007.

He played his first cricket match with Oxford University, captaining them in 1997, and playing against the opposing captain and his friend Anurag Singh during an annually held Varsity Match (cricket), the player was the first player to make his debut with Warwickshire the following year. He was awarded the county’s cap in 2000 and was then selected for the England tour of Australia in 2001, after he scored a record 315 at Lord’s during the county season. However, while his fellow Academy player along with teammate Ian Bell has gone on to a long England professional career Wagh was not invited to the squad, with the exception of being included in a preliminarily-selected team of the ICC Champions Trophy in 2004.
While Wagh is primarily regarded as an opening batsman for Warwickshire in limited and first-class overs, he’s also a skilled off-spinner with career bests that included 7-22 in the match against Lancashire at the end of 2003. The ban came in 2000 following an incident where he was reported as throwing. Since then, he’s many times been banned from close games played by the club by bowling.
Wagh retired from professional cricket on 1 June 2011 to pursue a career in law. He is undertaking a training contract with international law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.
