Mark Hardy is one of the most popular and richest Ice Hockey Player who was born on February 1, 1959 in Campbell River, British Columbia, Canada. Mark Hardy (born February 1 1959) is an Swiss-born Canadian former professional defenseman for ice hockey. He played for 15 seasons within the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Los Angeles Kings, New York Rangers and Minnesota North Stars between 1979 until 1994. An experienced hockey instructor for over 20 seasons, Hardy was most recently an assistant coach for the Tucson Roadrunners of the American Hockey League (AHL), the most prestigious minor league team of the Arizona Coyotes.

Resigning from NHL with the title of King after the 1993-94 season Hardy started coaching in 1999. He worked as an assistant coach to Chicago Blackhawks and the Los Angeles Kings and the Chicago Blackhawks until 2010.

He returned to the Kings organization in 2011 as an assistant coach with the club’s minor league team, the Ontario Reign of the ECHL where Hardy led the team to the second round of the playoffs for the first time in club history during the 2012-2013 season. Hardy specialized in working with defensemen and penalty-killing units helping Ontario reduce its goals against each year, culminating in a club-best 191 goals against in 2013-14, and its third consecutive Pacific Division Championship since he joined the organization.

As an invited guest hockey analyst for TV appearances and radio broadcasts during the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs, Hardy reunited with his former Kings coach Barry Melrose on NHL Network; as a regular analyst during the Western Conference and Stanley Cup Finals on NBC Sports LA with Fred Roggin; and appeared on TSN and the Petros & Money Show on Fox Sports Radio.

In 1992-93, Hardy as well as the Kings made it to the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time in Kings history. Hardy hit what was described in that time as an “iconic hit” in Game 3. The Kings were trailing 3-0 in the second half, forcing Montreal Canadiens’ Mike Keane across the boards with enough force that he shattered two glass panes and alter the pace in the match. In the second, the Kings scored three goals in the second half however, they were defeated to the Canadiens 4-3 during overtime.

Hardy was born in Switzerland where his father played professional hockey when he moved into Montreal as a youngster. He played for four seasons as a junior hockey in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League for the Montreal Juniors and was selected 30th overall by the Los Angeles Kings at the 1979 NHL Entry Draft.
