Fistric (born on June 1st June 1, 1986) is an Canadian former professional defenceman in ice hockey. He played for the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected in the Dallas Stars 28th overall in the first round of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He was a major junior player for Vancouver Giants. Vancouver Giants of the Western Hockey League (WHL).

Fistric is well-known for his physical aggression. In a match against the Calgary Flames on January 27 the 27th of January, 2010 Fistric was penalized match for intent to hurt after striking the opposing forward Eric Nystrom (who later became a Stars teammate) on the head with his helmet during a fight after which the helmet slid in his hands. The next day the player was penalized by the league by $2,500 in connection with the incident.

On January 14, 2013, Prior to the lockout shortened 2012–13 season, Fistric was traded by the Stars to the Edmonton Oilers for a Third Round pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

In the following 2014–15 season, Fistric effectiveness was hampered by a back injury, limiting him to just 9 regular season games. With the emergence of depth among the organization on the blueline, Fistric was placed on unconditional waivers and bought out from the final two-years of his contract with the Ducks on June 29, 2015.

Professionally re-established in 2006-07 Fistric became a member of the Iowa Stars, Dallas’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate. He scored 24 points during his first professional season. Fistric made his debut with Dallas the following season , 2007-08, dividing the season among Iowa as well as the NHL. He scored 2 assists during the 35 games of his NHL debut season for the Stars. Fistric was able to divide his time between the Stars as well as the AHL during 2008-09, scoring 4 assists over 36 games during his first NHL season. In the off-season, Stars renewed their contract with Fistric for a 3-year three-million contract the 8th of July in 2009.

Fistric started his professional career as a junior in WHL playing for his team the Vancouver Giants in 2001-02 while playing the majority of the season playing in the Alberta Midget Hockey League (AMHL) where he won the Brian Benning Trophy for the top defenseman in the league with the Maple Leaf Athletic Club.

After scoring 12 points for the Giants in 2003-04, he got drafted at the beginning of the round in the 28th spot with the Dallas Stars in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He was then recalled by the Giants but was left off the roster for all but one game during the 2004-05 season. In his the final WHL year, Fistric won the 2006 President’s Cup with the Giants and also played at the Memorial Cup. After having graduated from junior, Fistric was inducted into the Giants’ Ring of Honour which is a collection of banners that honor the Giants’ top alumni.

On August 20, 2013, the Anaheim Ducks signed Fistric as a free agent to a one- year, $900,000 contract. In the 2013–14 season, Fistric was the Ducks depth defenseman, adding a physical element in 34 games. During the campaign, Fistric was signed to a three-year contract extension with Anaheim on January 29, 2014.
