Bultje continued to produce an impressive performance, scoring nearly one point per game during the entire season. However however, the 2002/03 campaign would be chaotic for the hardworking forward. It would be split among three teams: it was the Amsterdam Tigers, playing in the Dutch League, the Hull Thunder and later the British National League and a second stint at the doomed Manchester Storm organization before they were dissolved due to off-ice financial issues.
Even though the previous Manchester franchise had collapsed, Bultje chose to remain in the city, and signed for the Manchester Phoenix, an organization which was established after the demise of the previous club. Bultje played for the Phoenix in their debut season, 2003/04. It was also the debut of the newly organized Elite Ice Hockey League, set up to replace the collapsing ISL.
Bultje retired from the game in 2005 to pursue a career outside of professional sport, and he is currently employed as a real estate agent in his native Canada.
Bultje was to make a major change for the 1999/00 season and made the decision to work in Europe and sign with the London Knights of the ISL which was the top standard of league that was then in place within the U.K.. Bultje put an impressive performance in his debut season abroad, guiding the Knights to make it through the play-offs the process. Bultje was able to stay in England for the next season, signing with the Bracknell Bees, this time at ISL level. After another great campaign, Bultje would be picked to Manchester Storm. The birthplace of Bultje was Etobicoke, Ontario, Bultje started his career in 1993 when he played for the now-defunct Erie Panthers at ECHL level. After playing in 15 games for the Panthers the team moved on to ECHL opponents The Huntsville Blast. Bultje was a good player and , in his 27 games with the two teams he scored 13 points and scored 29 , penalty time. After a brief hiatus from professional hockey, Bultje would sign for the Jacksonville Bullets for the 1995/96 season, a team that was icing in the brief-lived Sunshine Hockey League. Following the SHL and all of its teams disbanded at the conclusion year 1996 Bultje decided to stay in Florida and signed with an organization that was relocating, the Louisville Ice Hawks, now named The Jacksonville Lizard Kings.
For the Lizard Kings’ first season in the ECHL, Bultje found himself having a difficult time securing a first team place , and was able to make just 16 games all season. His next venture into professional ice hockey was for the 1998/99 time frame and he decided to sign with the UHL Mohawk Valley Prowlers. This would be one of the most successful Bultje’s seasons and, in just 39 games, he scored 42 points. Despite this an opportunity to move mid-season was to be made in the case of Bultje and he was transferred into his former team, the Winston-Salem IceHawks, for whom he played just under 20 appearances in the regular season and also assisted in the play-offs.
After just 18 appearances for the Phoenix however, Bultje chose to return to Amsterdam, signing for the Bulldogs. Here he would finish the 2003/04 season before choosing to remain in the city and re-sign for the Amsterdam Tigers, for whom he would play for throughout the duration of the 2004/05 season.
